Self Portrait with Gumball Machine, 2012
Leigh Cooney is a globally collected, Irish born Canadian "pop-folk" artist. Due to the self-taught nature of his paintings he is most closely associated with the marginal artists known as "Outsiders."

Le
igh has no formal training in the arts, preferring to experiment on the canvas. Despite being self-taught, Leigh is an accomplished full-time artist with paintings in galleries and private collections all over the world from South Africa, France, England, Australia, and Ireland, to most American States and of course Canada.  In 2010, after painting for only two years Leigh left his day job to dedicate his life to the arts.

Leigh's subjects vary from writers to soldiers, and from satirical to whimsical, but the majority of his work focuses on psychological struggle, and is often centered around childhood alienation. Sometimes Leigh just paints hot dogs.
